Investments now totaling nearly $16.5M to improve health in the Triangle (North Carolina) and Greater Philadelphia regions
GSK [LSE/NYSE: GSK] is honoring 20 nonprofits for their outstanding contributions to improving health in the Triangle (North Carolina) and Greater Philadelphia regions. The 20 GSK IMPACT Award winners (10 per region) are receiving $50,000 each to build their capacity and support their organizations’ missions to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals in their local communities. Winners address a variety of community health factors such as education and employment, family and social support, nutrition and affordable housing. To date, GSK has awarded more than $16 million in unrestricted funding to local nonprofits across the two regions, which are home to the company’s US corporate hubs. Unrestricted funding allows the nonprofits to use the money for any purpose to further their work.
Maya Martinez-Davis, President, US, GSK said: “At GSK, we are committed to investing in opportunities that impact health at scale, and our commitment extends beyond the innovative vaccines and medicines we develop to help prevent and treat disease. By rewarding nonprofit organizations in the communities of the Triangle (North Carolina) and Greater Philadelphia regions where we live and work, we’re helping those on the front lines improve health outcomes and provide support to those who need it the most.”
The GSK IMPACT Awards will be presented during a virtual ceremony at 12:00 noon ET on Thursday, November 21. A link to the ceremony can be found on the US Charitable Investments’ website. Each year, the winners are selected by a panel of GSK and community leaders through a competitive process. The winning nonprofits have demonstrated that they improve community health through innovative ideas, measured outcomes, collaborative partnerships, accountability and supporting racial equity.
In the Philadelphia region, the GSK IMPACT Awards are presented in collaboration with Philadelphia Foundation (@PhilaFound). Pedro A. Ramos, President and CEO, Philadelphia Foundation said: “As the region’s community foundation, we are inspired by the thoughtful and consistent approach GSK takes to recognize and support nonprofits making measurable impact on community health factors. The flexible, general operating dollars these GSK IMPACT Awards provide are precious to the organizations that receive them and impactful to the people they serve.”
In the Triangle region, the GSK IMPACT Awards are presented in partnership with Triangle Community Foundation (@TriComFdn).
Lori O’Keefe, CEO and President, Triangle Community Foundation said: “Community partnerships are crucial for Triangle Community Foundation being able to achieve our goal of mobilizing giving, leadership, and action in our community. Our longstanding relationship with GSK is a wonderful example of how partnership can accomplish greater things together, with the unrestricted aspect of the award funding embodying the flexible funding model that the Foundation has championed.”
