
Ryan P. Murphy, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Sociology
Ryan P. Murphy is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Chestnut Hill College, where he has served since 2005. Ryan holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Temple University, and bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Saint Joseph’s University. Ryan’s research interests are in women religious, social stratification, gender and sexuality, and social determinants of health. Ryan has presented at national and international conferences and has published articles in Sociology, Religious Studies, and History academic journals. At Chestnut Hill College, Ryan teaches Sociology courses that examine how social structures shape human behavior and how social institutions influence individual choices.
Ryan is married to his loving wife and partner, Krista, and the couple have one son, William “Liam.”
